A Gorgeous Russian Lacquer Box handpainted by Dontsova a graduate of the Khouli art schpol of lacquer boxes. This box is titled "The Life of a Mermaid" and is completely handpainted by the artist. This lacquer box is painted on a abalone shell which is from the sea, normally lacquer boxes are painted on paper mache, but this one is a rarety. The Box depicts a mermaid in her habitat along with the other beautiful sea creatures. The shells and pearls are real which are done with the box. When you open the lid of the box there is pearls and shells in the inside. The box also has mother of peral worked into the artwork to make the lacquer box really stand out and it is truely a one of a kind piece. This is the only one of this style the artist will create. The box is signed on the back by the artist Dontsova and the size of the box is 6.50 X 5 X 2 (w x h x d) (1 inch =2.5cm).
